What are the Staff to Child ratios?

We follow statutory regulations when it comes to Staff to Child ratios. For under 2's it is 1:3, 2-3 year olds 1:4, and over 3's its 1:8.

What qualifications do your staff have?

We have a strong team of qualified staff ranging from apprentices up to staff who have BA hons in Childhood studies.

Are your Staff cleared to work with children?

All unsupervised staff in our setting have a clear disclosure and barring service (DBS) check. Any staff who are awaiting their DBS are not left unsupervised.

Are your staff first aid trained?

The majority of our staff have a relevant paediatric first aid certificate which is updated every 3 years. Lists are available on each Parent notice board so you can identify who the first aiders are.

How will you settle my child into nursery?

We understand that each child is individual and will settle differently compared to their peers. All our staff are attentive to your child's needs and we will work closely with you as parents to make the settling in process as smooth as possible. We offer up to 2 free 2-hour taster sessions to help with the transition into our setting.

 

 

Can I come and look around?

Yes of course we invite all prospective parents to come and have a look at our nursery. You can ring and book an appointment and the manager or deputy will be available to show you around. We do have an open door policy so please feel free to just turn up without prior arrangement and if we are free to show you around we will, although we do ask that you avoid 12pm to 1.30pm as this is our lunch time and can be very busy!

 

 

What do I need to bring for my Child?

Depending on the age of your child the items you need to bring in will vary. If you child is in nappies you will need to provide those as well as wipes, cream (If necessary) and a spare set of clothes (just in case). Suitable clothing for the weather e.g. coats in winter, sunhats and sun cream in summer months. Water is available in all rooms but for babies and toddlers who may prefer their own cup please feel free to bring this in too. All other items needed will be discussed with you by the room leader of your child's room.

 

 

What happens if my child is poorly?

We have a thorough illness and exclusions policy for when your child is ill. if they become unwell while at nursery we will contact you straight away. If your child has been unwell at home and they are due to come into nursery we ask that you follow our guidelines as to when to keep your child off nursery. For example sickness and diarrhoea requires a 48 hour absence from the last episode.

What is Tapestry?

Tapestry is an online learning journal that we use to record and track your child's learning and development. Our team will explain this to you on registration and an account will be set up for you to view your child's photos and observations.

Will I be told how my child has been?

Yes at the end of each session you will be given feedback on how your child has been that day, including nappy changes, food eaten, sleeps etc. Under 2's have a communication diary as well and all messages will be written in there. Formal feedback on your child's learning is done at parents evenings/open days or by appointment with your child's key person.

Do I have to pay if I'm on holiday?

We do have a reduced rate for all holidays where we have received 6 weeks notice. These notified holidays will be charged at 50%. Bank holidays and a week we close over Christmas are not charged for.
